NTOMBHI YA MUTSONGA – PRAISE POET

About Me

Ntombhi Ya Mutsonga is a Multi-Award-winning praise poet, author, cultural activist, news anchor and aspiring actress who drives her social movements to promote arts and cultural identity.

Ntombhi Ya Mutsonga rose to national fame as a praise poet after her flamboyant rendition at the State of Nation Address in 2020. She is the first ever Xitsonga praise poet to usher the president of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa at the State of Nation Address where by a larger audience was captured and agglutinated to her craft.

Ntombhi Ya Mutsonga has won the Limpopo Music Award as Best poet of the year in 2021, The South African Traditional Music as Best Traditional Praise Poet in 2021 and she has honoured as Best Poet by the department of Sports Arts and Culture [Limpopo] in 2022.

Ntombhi Ya Mutsonga has had an honour to join amongst other dignitaries, the Premier of Limpopo Province , Mr Stanely Mathabatha, Executive Mayor of Vhembe District Municipality, Dr Mike Nkuna, the Founder of Masingita Group of companies at the launched of Mphephu Plaza.

She has had the honour to grace the Heritage Career Expo hosted by the Department of Higher Education Science and Technology in collaboration Culture, Arts , Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority which was graced by the Deputy Minister, Buti Manamela, Deputy Minister in Presidency, Thembi Siweya, Gogo Noria Mabasa and CATHSETTA.

She has had the honour living legends such as Gogo Esther Mahlangu, Gogo Katrina, Gogo Madonsi and Kokwani Noria Mabasa at the Heritage Day Celebration hosted by the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture. She’s had the honour again to usher, Dr Noxolo Grootboom, Prof. Pitika Ntuli at the Memorial Lecture of Mama Winnie Madikizela- Mandela hosted by the SATMA AWARDS.
